In Ode to Grand Proclamations (Dayan Fu), the phrase "The round heaven serves as a canopy, the square earth as a chariot" reflects the ancient Eastern philosophical understanding of a dynamic heaven and a static earth. At that time, heaven symbolized the ceaseless movement of the laws governing all things, while earth represented the stable and convergent order of the city walls. Through millennia of development, this order of the city walls has ascended hundreds of meters into the sky, embodying the ethos of human civilization nurtured within the profound culture of Southern Confucianism in Quzhou. It is the rational spirit of future technology, the modern incarnation of Quzhou's ceremonial heritage. Meanwhile, the ceaseless laws of movement remain the cornerstone of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature. In Quzhou’s new urban core, the “roundness” of heaven transforms into the “garden” of earth, humbly embracing nature's blessings and fostering art and culture.


《大言赋》中,“圆天为盖,方地为舆”体现了古代东方对天动地静的哲学理解。彼时,天乃运动不息的万物规律,地乃稳定收敛的城垣秩序。经千年发展,城垣秩序上至数百米高空,成为衢州在深厚南孔文化中生长出的人类文明之礼,它是未来科技的理性精神,它是衢州之礼的现代化身。而运动不息的万物规律始终是人与自然和谐相处的基石,天之“圆”在衢州新城城市之心,化为地之“园”,谦卑地承受自然之惠,孕育艺术与人文。是谓“方天为礼,园地承文”。
